I was listening to my Cowboy Junkies CD, The Caution Horses, the other day and remembered that the second cut on the album was the first Cowboy Junkies song I had ever heard. It was back in the early 1990s that 'Cause Cheap Is How I Feel hooked me and reeled me in.
The ethereal vocals and superb musicianship just blew me away. The lyrics are what really grabbed my interest and held on with an iron hand. I love intelligent, thought provoking, and emotional writing (a novelty in today's musical world). Michael Timmins achieved that with this song, and Margo just brings it all home.
I hope you, too, will enjoy this "blast from the past."
