It would be sacrilegious to refer to Loretta Lynn as an old fart, even though she is in her mid-seventies. You certainly wouldn't know that by listening to her rock out with Jack White on a cut from her 2004 Van Lear Rose album.
Van Lear Rose is one the the most progressive and entertaining albums I have ever heard by Loretta Lynn, and it is a prized CD in my collection. This is also the first time that this country music legend has written the lyrics for all songs on an album.
I mentioned once before that I love it when a "senior citizen" scores. Loretta Lynn scored big on the Van Lear Rose. Proof, I think, that you are only as old as you feel.
