The Oracle question of the day: How many of you folks think that Newt Gingrich is totally out of touch with anything resembling reality? Let's see a show of hands.

For those of you who didn't raise your hand, please take a few minutes to view the following video. Larry Wilmore reveals the great disconnect between the GOP and a major segment of the American population. I can't decide whether to laugh or cry. This is both funny and sad.

  1. So Gingrich wants poor kids to start “cleaning the bathrooms and mopping the floors.” His plan involves firing janitors–but they deserve it if they’re unionized. Perhaps some of the kids whose parents are fired janitors will suffer abject poverty. They’ll then be especially motivated to take their parents' place. After cleaning bathrooms, perhaps they can do the same at schools attended by the children of the one percent, who are able to devote all their energies to their studies. Is there any better way to perpetuate the plutocracy to which Gingrich has devoted his life?
