Rick Santorum is not alone in his assault on women's rights. He is the standard-bearer among the Republican primary candidates. In Santorum's world, government has an obligation to dictate what goes on behind closed doors in America. Were he to become the overseer of American morals, Santorum would ban all forms of birth control, outlaw abortions for any reason, and define marriage according to the Holy Gospel of Santorum.

Would he allocate public funds to take care of all the children born into poverty? What about the parents who are forced to deliver a severely deformed child without the capability of caring for this child? Would Santorum provide for these children? Not everyone is rich enough or strong enough to take on this responsibility. Santorum and his wife are to be admired for taking care of their own. Not everyone is that lucky.
America and the world are already over populated. Birth control and education can keep the world's population at manageable levels, and abortion should not be taken off the table.
