A Sunday Reminder

Our Florida Republican dominated Legislature would like to see your tax dollars be made available to the Church of Scientology, Muslims, Mormons, the God Hates Fags Baptist Church of Westboro, and maybe even the Caton Temple of Self Abuse.

The Florida Religious Freedom Amendment 7 will appear on the November 6, 2012 state ballot in Florida as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. Essentially, the measure moves to repeal the state's ban of public dollars for religious funding. The measure requires 60 percent voter approval for adoption.

This is just a reminder that the Religious Freedom wording is misleading. You are not voting for religious freedom, you are voting to give your tax dollars to any religious organization that lays claim to your tax dollars.

If the amendment passes, this is what Section 3 of Article I of the Florida Constitution will look like:

There shall be no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting or penalizing the free exercise thereof. Religious freedom shall not justify practices inconsistent with public morals, peace, or safety. No individual or entity may be discriminated against or barred from receiving funding on the basis of religious identity or belief. No revenue of the state or any political subdivision or agency thereof shall ever be taken from the public treasury directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect, or religious denomination or in aid of any sectarian institution.

Please, think before you vote, and spread the word to others.

If this thing passes you may start referring to me as the Right Reverend Jon the Properly Pious of the Holy Oracle Church of SOG City. I will be applying for some of those holy dollars. My congregation will be sharing in the loot...I mean Holy Bounty.

Let's hear a Holy Crapola and Amen, brothers and sisters, for the manna from Heaven or Tallahassee...wherever.

  1. Thank you John. I have printed this page and will be distributing to the younger set. Daughter is in American Government class and this would be an eye opener for them. They need to register and vote. This is precisely the kind of amendment that should galvanize the apathetic lazy citizen.

  2. Actually Notyourmomma'skitchen I should be thanking you for this comment. This is what makes the Oracle worthwhile. It has, from the start, been a fantasy of mine that maybe the Oracle could make some small degree of difference.

If this page can convince the hope of this country to vote, I am ecstatic.

    Thanks for sharing.
