Out Of Office

The CEO of the company for whom my bride works sent out this message to all employees:

Team,

If you are going to be out of the office and unable to answer emails within 8 hours, it [is our] policy to leave an automated out of office message.

Something simple like “ I am currently out of the office and will not be able to check email. I will return on ___________, if this is urgent, please contact ____________, thank you.”

Don’t get creative as some I have seen:
  1. I am currently out at a job interview and will reply to you if I fail to get the position. 
  2. You are receiving this automatic notification because I am out of the office. If I was in, chances are you wouldn't have received anything at all. 
  3. I've run away to join a different circus.
  4. I will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks for medical reasons. When I return, please refer to me as 'Margaret' instead of  'Steve'.
