Understatement Of The Day

Sen. Gary Siplin, D-Orlando, accused the media of influencing S.B. 1560 and fostering a perception of corruption among legislators. A perception of corruption? He must be joking!

The recent actions of Senator JD Alexander and his ethically challenged attack on USF, the House Ethics Committee announcement that they will continue investigating Nation Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) Finance Vice-Chairman Vern Buchanan, not to mention Senate President Mike Haridopolis and his plot to fast-track the greased up prison privatization package through the senate do not foster a perception of corruption among Florida legislators - they scream CORRUPTION!

The senate bill sponsored by John Thrasher, a Jacksonville Republican senator, was meant to root out financial conflicts of interest, but was described by some as "... ineffective and a smokescreen for more important ethics problems."

I am of the opinion that the quickest way to root out corruption in Florida politics is for all Republicans, and some Democrats, in the Florida legislature, along with the CEO of Florida, Rick Scott, to officially and posthaste resign from office.

There, problem solved - and, you are welcome.
